The port of San Sebastian

You need a flight to Tenerife South, airport code TFS.  There is another airport on Tenerife (Tenerife North) but the transfer is over an hour to Los Cristianos, so please try for Tenerife South.  To assist your search, we recommend for a comprehensive choice of flight operators.

It is worth noting that it can take some time to get through baggage reclaim so when booking flights you should have a flight that lands at any point during the day prior to 5pm.  Ferries to La Gomera run throughout the day with the last ferry leaving at 7.30pm.

From the airport to the ferry terminal

On arrival at Tenerife South, take a Taxi or bus (details below) to the ferry port at Los Cristianos. Taxis should cost no more than €25 and take about 15 minutes.

Any of the following phrases will be understood by the taxi driver.

“Puerto Los Cristianos por favor”
“Estacion de Ferry por favor”

Generally the taxi drivers speak a little English. Hold tight!

NB: We can arrange a taxi to meet you at the airport and take you directly to the ferry port. This saves time and waiting around. If you would like us to arrange this, please do contact us prior to your arrival date.

Bus Service – (Autobús or “Guagua” in Spanish)

Bus at Tenerife Airport

From the Airport to Los Cristianos

Line 111 –  Aeropuerto Sur , Pl Americas

The bus departs from just outside the arrivals hall (doors 14 and 15) at Tenerife South airport.  It leaves every half an hour for the bus terminal at Los Cristianos. The sign on the bus is for Pl Americanas. The cost to Los Cristianos is currently Euro 1.85/person (paid to the driver). If you have bulky luggage this should be stowed in the bus´s “hold”. The hold doors are opened manually by hand for loading/access of your luggage. The driver will close them all before departure.

It is worth noting that you would have at least a 15 minute walk from the bus terminal to the ferry terminal in Los Cristianos.

The bus does not go directly to the ferry terminal.

line 111 busWhen the bus exits the motorway (Autopiste), you are approaching Los Cristianos on a dual carriageway to a roundabout. The bus goes straight on and into an avenue with palm trees down the centre, two large shop/apartment buildings on your right and all the bus stops on your left. At the end, the bus will take a u-turn back up this avenue and stop. Get off here. Please see our Googlemap for directions from the bus terminal to the port.

Please note: If after your stay you return to the Airport on the bus, pick up the Line 111 at the appropriate bus stop here and take the bus to Aeropuerto Sur/Santa Cruz Est.

When you arrive at the port, go into the ferry terminal building where there are windows to the right and left.  The windows on the left are for the Armas ferry and on the right are for the ‘Fred Olsen Express’

With the Fred Olsen ferry, there is a “truck” (pictured above) where you can put your luggage and this will be taken onto the ferry for you. This looks a little like swimming pool lockers and will be marked up with the ferry time and company. They are situated close to the taxi rank in front of the ferry terminal building. Please note, you will need a 1 euro coin for the locker. Please note these trucks are for the larger Fred Olsen ferries NOT the smaller Benchi Express which requires you to carry your luggage on board.

The Armas luggage van is situated close to the steps where you join the ferry and it is a blue or white van marked Armas.
